TouchKit

The TouchKit multitouch kit has two options: (1) TouchKit Components (unassembled) for $1080 including s/h in US. (2) TouchKit Run (assembled) for $1580 including s/h in US. International shipping is available and pricing is dependent on region.

What's included and what's not?

Included in both:

  • Nortd's Multitouch Screen
  • Nortd's Multitouch Software (computer vision, calibration, api)
  • IR Camera (perfectly calibrated for TouchKits)
  • Instructions
  • schematics
  • source code

What you'll need:

  • A Mac/Win/Linux computer that's been purchased in the last few years.
  • A projector (we love and use a Mitsubishi PK20, but any projector will do)
  • A basic background in programming is helpful (but we have smart friends and good forums if you get stuck).

How can I order?

Good Question. If you are located in the US you can order directly from our order page. If you live outside the US please email us at touchkit at nortd dot com subject: order and your address and we will forward you payment instructions and specifics on when you should expect it.

PLEASE NOTE: there's a difference between the CUBIT and TouchKit. CUBIT is a complete multitouch system. TouchKit is a development kit which includes the screen, camera and software. You build whatever hardware encasement and programs you wish (even a cardboard box has worked). We offer suggestions and easy to reproduce design plans but in the end it is up to you how you want to install the system. If you are interested in a CUBIT, we are currently reviewing proposals for collaborations and commissions for completed systems and sight specific installations.

What's the difference between the two TouchKits?

TouchKit Components is completely unassembled.
What does this mean? You'll have the parts and sort of like IKEA, (but with better instructions), you will build everything from scratch with the parts provided. You will need a basic understanding of circuits and how to solder (or a willingness to teach yourself).

TouchKit Run includes a slick acrylic screen with embedded IR LEDs which saves you a lot of time and soldering. TouchKit includes detailed instructions on how to set up with the included camera and software (computer vision, calibration, api) so you are up in running in no time, or at least by dinner. The benefit of TouchKit is you can skip assembly and just go straight to writing your own apps.

I just want code no kits or hardware!?

Great! Thats cool too. We will be posting the source code and plans online in the coming week. Please check back with us.

How big is the screen? How big can I make my system?

We built the software API to be modular and scalable so there is no specific limit. However the screen we ship with the kit is currently set with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and is about 27" x 18" in size.

When are we shipping?

Due to overwhelming demand, there is a temporary back order. We are currently estimating ship date to be between 3-6 weeks. Its worth the wait, we promise.
